Question:
What are the advantages of using your Plastic Corrugated Core Box Containers?
Answer:
Plastic Corrugated has many advantages over waxed fiber paper corrugated, wood, and injection molded core box containers.
Waxed fiber paper corrugated core box containers
are heavy and get slippery when exposed to heat (sun) or moisture. The wax softens and at the same time begins to break down and lose effectiveness. Wax can also contaminate core samples. This waxed core box container is also a danger when handling heavy cores as the boxes become slippery and easily dropped. Waxed core boxes will also begin to delaminate over time especially when left outdoors exposed to the environment. The more moisture the cores have the faster these core boxes will break down. Any surveyor can tell you that core may be anything from solid rock to a core of wet soil or mud.
Wood core box containers
are extremely heavy and again will have issues exposed to moisture for an extended time. These wood core box containers are cumbersome and take up substantial space on site. They are the most expensive of all the core box container options to ship because they are over double the weight of any of the other materials.
Injection-molded or hard plastic core box containers
are reliable, but they are also heavy and do not ship collapsed like our corrugated plastic core box sets. This adds to your freight costs and the space required for storing your core box inventory. If dropped or mishandled hard plastic core boxes or containers can fracture or crack. Our plastic corrugated core boxes could be dropped and not sustain substantial damage.
Plastic corrugated core box containers
are not affected by moisture or 99% of all chemical types. This makes them ideal for almost all environments and they will hold up to both wet core samples as well as rainy days and high humidity. Plastic corrugated is very lightweight and the lightest of all core box container options saving you on your shipping costs. Many of our customers have stored their cores for years with absolutely no change in the performance of our plastic corrugated core box containers. Some customers reuse our Plastic Corrugated Core Boxes time and time again on new drill sites or additional projects.
Plastic Packaging Solutions has a variety of core box sizes available. We stock the most common sizes for fast and immediate delivery. We also make custom sizes for many of our customers with most sizes ranging from 1 5/8” to 4 1/4” cores. PPS has made custom core box for up to 6” x 60” core samples. Most of any size is possible.
